Ok so tonight I installed the SSD .. connected via sata to motherboard etc ..

I then ran the toolbox program to update my SSD ..

It said it had downloaded the update successfully, and that I just had to restart, for changes to take place to the SSD firmware ..

However it didn't update it at all :(

Still shows in the toolbox app, as being firmware 1.3 .. and NOT the apparently downloaded and installed 1.4 update ..

So have I gone wrong somewhere, or was I also required to enter bios and set to ACHI mode etc first before running the toolbox program .. cause imo this is far to over complicated for a simple update :(

Please can anyone help me out here ?

app is installed on another hard drive .. the SSD is completely blank, no data at all on it, I just plugged it in to the motherbaod .. and that was all, I've done nothing more to it.

Totally read your post wrong that time :\ fail.

Did the software tell you that it completed successfully or anything like that? Make a post on the OCZ forums if you haven't already dude, I'd imagine you're the only on on here with a Vertex 4 atm!

Yes it said the update had been downloaded successfully, however I did notice if I open " My Computer " that the SSD is not being shown at all .. yet both the toolbox app and HDD pro can see it :/

So I really got no idea, and it's this exact reason I never used SSD .. Now I am stuck with needing to fresh install, and no SSD to use. Unless I was to just use it without the updated firmware :(

@Hyper bro can you take me through step by step exactly what you did to update your own Vertex 4's as I'm guessing you've already done this.

All I did was select each Vertex 4 and told it to download and update to the latest firmware, then restarted.

I did each one separately.

You will probably have to format it first I would think? Sorry man, I've done it on a bunch of SSDs but none that have nothing on them at all.
