I have placed an order for the Gforce GTX 690 as opposed to having 2 680s. Will get a phone call in a couple of days to find out the availability, but the order has been placed so i thought i would get in early. I have been doing my homework on the 690,s and as far as i know this card wont get as hot as the 680 but has not been confirmed as yet as its just speculation. But nvidia must know something as the prototype and standard supposidly has been set.I think nvidia is out to prove something on this release and it remains to be seen as to what. But i think they are on a winner with this card from what i have read. I guess time will tell once again. Grassy

Nice, mate. :)

I've never heard of a dual GPU card being cooler than its single equivalent. :o

Thanks for the welcome Hyper, i really like the sound of this card. I have never really owned a good graphics card before and had the 2 680's ordered and then decided to go with this 1 card as its specs are impressive. I have the opportunity to add another in the future.I am dealing with umart in brisbane as thier prices aint too bad. I thought that 1 card would draw less heat than the 2 680's.

Good point, but dont be fooled into thinking the 690's will drop a lot. Why i say that is because you have to take a look at the specs between the 680 compared to the 1 690 as ithink thats where the marketing stadegy begins. But buying 2 690's might make a little difference. The marketing stradegy ends where the 7990 is released. Thats just the way i am seeing it at the moment but i have been wrong plenty of times before. :D

I mean buying enzus 2nd hand, I don't think the release of the 7990 will have all that much effect on the pricing of the 690 unless AMD pull a rabbit out of their hat. ;)

;) yea i see what you mean. i have just had some good news,my 690 will be in store in 2 days and just waiting on my extreem motherboard from umarts supplier. i also chose 2x 32 gig of vengence ram. i was going to go 2 x8 gig of the dominator and then add later if i needed more but changed my mind to the vengence as the wait will be too long.
