Hi guys,

since I've finished my last project, Elegance (I'll upload moar pics asap :)), I'm going to start another project, called Modularity.

This time it's going to be even harder than before, since i have to build from scratch a custom case. And it's going to be a really big one.

Goals of this project:

- really good aesthetic
- full aluminium (exteriors in brushed alu)
- solid
- liquid cooling capable
- rivets free

and of course... Modular!

My idea of modular case is a bit different from Thermaltake one. Thermaltake simply made a couple of boxes for each component: A box for cpu and motherboard, a box for hdd's, a box for psu etc. etc.

This was really innovative but a bit user unfriendly for extreme builds and for a lot of radiators for liquid cooling.

On the other hand, my idea is basically to split the entire case in 2 big compartments: one for all the hardware and the other one for liquid cooling gear. And make this two compartments independent.

And since this case is going to have room for 4x480 rads, comparments will be 3 in total.

2x480 rads

hardware + psu's + hdd's

2x480 rads

Well... I'm not that good with english so I'll let pics speak for myself

The idea:

here is summarized what this case is going to be able to hold:

HPTX motherboard, 4 Way SLi / 4 Way CrossfireX gpu's configuration, 5 HDD's or 5 SSD's likely, dual psu's (2x Corsair AX1200 for example), dual loop (dual DDC or D5 + EK dual top) and of course 4x480 rads (I took the measures referring to the EK CoolStream XTX 480 template, so this case have room for 2x480 64mm thick rads at the bottom and on top).

So... The idea seems good to me, but now I have to do some 3D sketch, so I can realize how things are going to be. Let's start!

As you can see, this is the bottom portion of the case. I did not want the profile to be square so I made those two curved parts that can be disassembled to be colored or customized.

Also as seen from the pics, bottom compartment will have a shoe, through which you can remove it from the structure of the case, and work only on that part.

Then I realized that fan holes were too low, so i redid all the bottom compartment and now it looks like this.

I also changed the nylon screws to simple M3x10 ones.

Then i did the I/O backplate with 9 PCI-E expansion slots

and this is where I'm at atm.

In the pics above you can see how i fitted both psu's and all the internal structure of the case. The middle compartment will be firm while the bottom and top compartments can be easily removed, you just need to unscrew a couple of screws and then you can slide them out :)

Moar updates soon!
