Hey,

Well, those of you who are feeling a little nostalgic of Adblock Plus on Firefox can do so no more!

I have found a little program that does a BETTER JOB!

Be aware that I'm not sure how well this works lol, but it removed all the ads on Maxishine's website automatically, so I'm satisfied.

This is what your Chrome might look like now....

Image

Ok, if you want all these ads gone, listen in!

Step 1: Download Privoxy. Really easy, just select the .exe one from that list, and install it. MAKE SURE IT'S SET ON STARTUP ON WINDOWS!

Step 2: Go to Google Chrome, and click the wrench icon Image. Click options in that menu.

Step 3: Go to the "Under the Hood" tab, and click "Change Proxy Settings" as show here:

Step 4: Click 'LAN Settings" As shown below:

Image

Step 5: Enter: "127.0.0.1" as the address, and "8118" as the port, as shown below:

Image

Step 6: Push ok on all the screens you just opened. Close Google Chrome, then reopen it.

YOU'RE DONE!

Result:

NO ADS!

Lets see how much memory Privoxy uses hey?

Image

Only 3mb of RAM used! That's about a quarter of Steam, a fifth of xFire, and a staggering 10th of MSN!

The good thing about Provoxy is that it allows you to customize it in SO many ways, you can change what ads you want blocked, and all kinds of things. Plus it's free and uses next to no memory.

Combine this with Chrome version 2, and you have a browser that is VERY fast, and set to take over Firefox.

==============================================================================

Please, enjoy.

If your gonna be using Firefox. I would stick with the Adblock+ thats already out for it, its alot better and works well. This is probably the best your gonna get for Chrome atm.

Or you could DL adblock, click "block ad" above the ads, and you're done. This is really complicated to do a simple thing.

My 1TB drive is getting messy. I should probably do this now that I have a week of school off.
