Fractal Design has uploaded an interesting video to YouTube this morning that shows how well constructed their cases are made. They want to rid the world of crappy cases, so they decided to take a shotgun and shoot the side panel of the Fractal Design Define XL (our review) case to show how it is damn near shotgun proof. They also take a competitors side panel out and shoot it as well. It was penetrated by just a single shot, while it took ten shots to get through the Define XL side panel. Sure, Fractal Design could have used buckshot and poked a hole right through the side panel, but that wasn't the point. They used No. 7 birdshot for this demonstration and we think it drove the message home rather well.

How well built is the Define XL? We put some side panels to the test to show you just how strong they really are.

That's kinda cool, but why would you want a bullet proof side panel?!

"Well hello there, forget all about the traditional targets.. Let's just use my Fractal side panel!"

What are they trying to proove??? I think that "competitors side panel" may have been aluminum, even if it isn't that just seems like they went OTT with the thickness of the steel. It does weigh 18kg.

Also, it's clearly very small birdshot. He should try it with 00 buck and see what happens.

I still like the case, but this wouldn't influence me to try their products.

Yeah, bird shot is pretty ****.

A human could survive being shot with birdshot as long as it wasnt point blank. A couple of layers of clothes and you wouldnt even bleed :P

i think they are just trying to prove how durable their case is. maybe shooting it a couple times might of been a bit over board, they could of used something we all can more so relate to, maybe like little sisters kicking it? raging nerds throwing level 5 wizard staffs at it? idk :/
