I was thinking of just spending around 400-600 for a standard yet good enough to play some games while I'm at work. I'ved checked MSY and the packages they got for AMD duo cores is for a fairly decent one would be around 500-600.

Mind if anyone can help me with a list of prices and where to get them. So far all I know is MSY is the cheapest since everywhere I go from the states I lived in MSY beats all prices to shops I been to.

I would like to have at least 4GB DDR3 and 500GB HDD, I did want a 1TB but decided now that I'll put in another HDD later on. Also this is for work so I don't need no crazy big case or anything and also a back up PC too if I need to test anything. Already just bought myself a new gaming laptop for fun. Yes I now I'm going to complain about the size of the fan outflow but obviously it needs it (speaks the obviously) but I love it! and it's 8GB ram!

Anyway if anyone can put a good suggestion with a good prices list and where to get it from would be great. If it's not from MSY I will just call them to confirm what their prices are.

Would appreciate it a lot thanks guys in advance.

I dont think your going to get anything decent for gaming on that budget. At least nothing that will run games that came out around last year/this year/next year. Unless of course you dont want to play good games. (ie ones that have more complex engines/gameplay and ***** amazing graphics.

I'd suggest bumping the budget up to like $1500. You'l get a decent enough set up for that ammount, if you can afford it. (I know I cant, haha)

Well to be honest I can easily fork out 5ish grand considering I'm an entrepreneur and always travelling around but now I've stopped so I am concentrating on my 2 jobs I have. One is my own business and one is part time as a personal trainer.

I didn't want a great gaming machine due to the fact that I know it'll distract me. I'm already studying in tafe cert 3 for IT so I don't need anymore than I got on my plate. Though I did today got a GT 520 and upgraded minor things such as RAM and so forth. Thinking of getting a GTX 460 have SLI it. But again I need to stop one of my jobs or do whatever it is to makes me less busy. Not to mention I'm always in hospital due to my serious ulcer leaking out blood as we speak.

Man I hate the word "entrepreneur". I associate it with "car salesman" like people, who will do anything to get ahead. That and a unhealthy dosing of arrogance.

Not saying you are like that, just saying thats what I associate with the word ;)

All that power can be put to work. Like if your doing anything intensive. Such as photoediting/videoediting/3D rendering.
Photoediting isnt to intensive at the amateur level though. My laptop shits itself if im working on a 1gb PSD file though.

Plus if your uber rich (you have implied so several times) then the money factor is moot. If you lack the basic self control not to play games whilst at work, I just dont even.

The graphic cards you have stated are pretty much bottom of the line.

Without knowing exactly what your budget is, its hard to recommend something. First your limit was clearly to low for a gaming computer, and now you say you could easily afford a $5000 computer.

If you want top of the line graphics, get an ASUS HD6990. If you want to have a budget, then perhaps this budget wont allow for such an expensive card.

So you need to make a concrete budget, one that is realistic with your wants/needs.

Perhaps you need to re-read what I wrote. I clearly explained the reasons why I don't want a hardcore gaming comp due to the fact that I don't want to get distracted and get addicted and lose track of time. So I wanted something that will play some decent games but not enough to spend hours on end and forget the time I spent and realise I spent all day.I didn't ask for an expensive card either. And about an "intensive job", your saying doing photoshop and video editing is intensive? In other words other jobs is somewhat a waste of time? If you forgot everyone has their own opinion in life on what they want to do, just for your information my first job was psychology as that's what I studied.....

Secondly, you obviously don't know the meaning of an entrepreneur and what they do. There are different types of entrepreneurs and yes some may come across as "sales man" but real entrepreneurs are no where close to a "sales man". I have never gone door to door knocking or gone up to someone and try to do the whole "Sales man technique". So get your facts right before you make your own assumptions.

Third of all, I know my budget. I know what I can afford and how far I can go. But I chose the one that I think sutis me best. So if you want go talk about arrogance then have a look at yourself in the mirror before you talk to me about being arrogant. Don't forget you came and passively attacked me with my job so to speak and what I said which made total sense that you seem to not comprehend.

Edit: I am not attacking you I am just correcting you. Also one more thing. I never said I was rich. If I was rich my house would have been paid off......but no it's still being paid off as a morgage.

I said that it only takes a little self control not to play games instead of doing work.

I meant "intensive" as in that it takes alot of power from a video card. I was not implying these jobs are harder than any to perform, just that they are harder on the video card than say, word processing.
Thats great man! One of my mates is a 3rd year Psych student. It seems really interesting, I couldnt hack the science stuff though. To much data collecting and not enough Freudian analysis for my liking, haha.

I was not implying that entrepreneur are salesmen at all. Nor was I trying to imply you were /anything/ I outlined, which is why I tried to make it clear in my second paragraph/line.
They are just some things I have come to associate with that word. I would never assume one is actually like that without having first got to know them and make my own judgement, which I clearly have not had the chance to do with you ;)

I never called you arrogant, I explicitly said "Not saying you are like that, just saying thats what I associate with the word".
Good on you for having a go at life, I never intended to offend you. Personally I dont even have a job, so your doing alot better than me, haha.

Everyone has a different concept of what rich is. If this post was not attacking me, it is at the very least being passive aggressive. But hey, you thought I was attacking you, so fair game.

Sorry for the misunderstanding ;)

I'm sorry as well. I will admit it was some what passively aggressive but I didn't intend it to at all but after re-reading it, it does come across that way. But really I was merely trying to make you understand/correcting you at certain statements that was said that was not even close to the fact.

Anway Liquid where are you!
